Frequently Asked Questions

Junior Suite FAQs

How are the beds arranged in the Junior Suite at Bahia Principe Grand Coba?
You can choose 1 king bed or 2 double beds. The suite also has a double-size sofa bed in the living area, so the 441 sq. ft. room sleeps up to 4 guests. Blackout drapes in the bedroom help with sleeping in after an excursion day.
Does the Junior Suite have a balcony, and what does it look out on?
Yes, the suite has a private balcony with outdoor views. It is a good spot for morning coffee, since the room has its own coffee and tea maker. Expedia notes that balconies, patios and terraces at the resort may not suit young children, so families with little ones may want to ask the resort about this in advance.
What is the bathroom like?
The private bathroom has a jetted bathtub and a rainfall showerhead in a shower/bathtub combination. Soap, shampoo, free toiletries, towels and a hair dryer are provided. Toothbrushes and toothpaste are not supplied, so pack your own.
Is the Junior Suite a good choice for families?
It suits families well. The room sleeps four with a double sofa bed, and a free crib can be supplied. Connecting rooms are available for larger groups. The resort describes itself as family-friendly, with the Bahia Scouts kids' club for ages 4–12 and a Teen's Club for ages 13–17. One listing notes the children's club may carry a surcharge.
What is included with a Junior Suite stay?
Your stay is all-inclusive. That covers buffet and à la carte meals, snacks, and beverages including the in-room minibar. It also covers onsite activities and use of facilities such as the gym. Land activities include tennis, miniature golf, volleyball, soccer and bicycling. You receive three à la carte dinner reservations per week, and the à la carte restaurants ask for semi-formal dress. Spa treatments, the airport shuttle and the children's club are extra.
How far is the beach, and what is it like?
The beach is not right beside the rooms. One guest review describes about a 7-minute walk from the main lobby, with a shuttle also running to Coba Beach. The same review calls the on-site beach fairly small and a little rocky on days with bigger waves. The resort also has several outdoor pools, including a main pool with a swim-up bar, and two Jacuzzi pools.
What are the dining options for Junior Suite guests?
The Kukulcan buffet serves breakfast, lunch and themed dinners with no reservation needed. À la carte options include Portofino (Italian), Mediterraneo, Mikado (Asian/Japanese), Cozumel (Mexican), Le Gourmet and Mashua (Nikkei). These generally serve dinner from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM and require reservations. Poolside, Piscis and La Casita offer daytime snacks.
How do I get to Bahia Principe Grand Coba from the airport, and what are check-in times?
The resort is in Akumal on the Chetumal–Cancún highway. Tulum International Airport is about an hour away by car. Cancún International is roughly 1 hour 28 minutes away. A round-trip airport shuttle is available for a surcharge. Check-in is from 3:00 PM and check-out is at 12:00 noon. Guests must be 18 or older to check in and must show photo ID and a credit card.
